A NEW CEMETERY IN GLYFADA
A MONUMENT IN HONOR OF THE FALLEN WHO SERVED IN THE AIR FORCE
The operation of the new Cemetery of the Municipality of Glyfada is a fact. The cemetery was designed,
licensed and constructed with the financial support of the Municipality of Glyfada and with Politis Business Group supporting this initiative in practice.
As of Monday 5th November, with the grand opening of the Holy Temple, a donation from Thanasis Martinos, the city’s new cemetery was ready for interment, operating on an area of land granted to the city by special law by the Ministry of National Defense. The cemetery site is located one kilometre beyond the last house in the Terpsithea area, next to the ETHM military baseand for the first time in our country a military cemetery was created on a part of this area. The site is dominated by a special monument engraved with the names of 770 heroic fallen soldiers who served in the Air Force, dating from its establishment, prior to the First World War, to the present.
The Politis Business Group – Politis Group, in assisting every effort to serve the citizens and honor those who have offered their life to our homeland, in perfect cooperation with the Municipality of Glyfada and its Mayor, George Papanikolaou,donated the arch on which the names of the fallen are engraved with the promise that they will remain immortal in everyone’s consciousness and the hope that the list would not grow. The cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense for the appropriate and commendable construction of this project was exemplary. Politis Group remains at the side of all residents, aiming at the daily improvement of their lives.
